Our History
The South African Islamic Centre (“SAIC”) is a not for profit organisation established in 2002 and licensed by Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department of the Government of Dubai (“IACAD”). From its humble beginnings as a Quran Centre located in Satwa it was primarily established to teach Quran to the English speaking communities in Dubai.
As Dubai developed under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, SAIC recognised that there was a significant need to serve the communities in and around the ‘New’ Dubai areas. To address this need SAIC relocated to Al Barsha in the heart of ‘New’ Dubai and since moving the demand for its activities has grown exponentially. In 2012, SAIC was formally upgraded to a fully-fledged Islamic Centre by IACAD. SAIC now provides classes catering for children, adults and reverts.
